30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY SEVEN: My Friend Janet

2012/11/07 Gayle 0

Every once in a while someone comes into your life and really makes an impact. Today I am thankful for just such a friend, Janet Knott. Janet has seemingly tireless energy for helping her community. She is always working on some event fundraising for some cause. She’s a mom and a business owner and still she has time to be a great friend. I love our long discussions on most any topic and that we are able to disagree without being disagreeable. I absolutely adore Janet’s children! Zach (18) and Olivia (16) are growing into such wonderful adults and give me hope for the future. A couple of years ago Janet and her husband Rick invited us to their Church, St Paul’s UMC in Carolina The rest of the story

Dealing With Disappointment in Elections and Life

2012/11/07 Gayle 0

I was determined last night to not watch the election returns. To be honest…I didn’t want to know! It wasn’t that I was invested in any candidate or was apathetic. Mostly, I just wanted to relish the fact that we could get back to normal conversation, interesting and fun tweets and facebook posts. Let’s face it, the things that bring us together are far more fun and interesting than political banter or differing philosophies! I’d much rather read jokes, see cute pictures or well just about anything other than divisive rhetoric. However, how did I spend my evening last night? Incessantly refreshing my twitter and impatiently searching for the election results even as my ‘planned distraction’ – – television, played on in the background. Have you ever The rest of the story

30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY SIX: voting

2012/11/06 Gayle 0

Today was Election Day. As I write this I have no idea who won the election and yet, I am so very grateful for the opportunity to vote. I stand awestruck at the sacrifice and vision of our forefathers and foremothers who not only envisioned a change in the world in which they lived but were willing to sacrifice all to make it a reality. I am eternally grateful to those who have offered and paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend my ability to vote. This election has, unlike any other I can recall, been divisive. Emotions and feeling have run high. Friendships have become splintered and some have been severed. My hope for the future is that we embrace our sameness! That we embrace The rest of the story

2012/11/05 Gayle 0

Today I am being mindful of my gratitude for those who support my business. I am involved with two small businesses; Glynne’s Soaps and Biz Buzz Social and as a small business owner there is nothing more important than our customers. Today I am thankful for every small business in need of social media help and choose to use Biz Buzz Social and I am thankful for every person who uses soap and chooses to use Glynne’s soaps!

Change is Harder than moving Hands on a Clock

2012/11/05 Gayle 0

Last week, I wrote about small circles of change. And I have been working hard at putting that principle to work in my life.  However, this message became very clear to me this morning via an unlikely source….my dogs. Time changed over the weekend! For most parts of the United States we changed our clocks on Saturday Night to go from Daylight Savings Time back to standard time. This time of year we “Fall Back” Which means we get to do things an hour later. Except my DOGS, who are VERY accurate at time telling, don’t use clocks! They are blissfully unaware that when they wake everyone up at the usual 7:00am time that they are really waking up an hour earlier. Breakfast and supper time did The rest of the story
