Walking Into A New Habit

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu Chinese philosopher (604 BC – 531 BC) Sometimes it feels like every step I take, every plan I make just turns to poop before I can accomplish much. Last year, I made great and elaborate plans to walk the Disney Marathon the weekend of my 50th birthday; except I never actually took the steps necessary to complete the journey. When January rolled around, I was sad because I wasn’t walking in Disney but I knew there was no one to blame but Gayle Tabor. However, I rallied to walk a 50k in the month of January (the month of my birthday). What I noticed, as I was dedicated to and completing The rest of the story

End – it’s just another word for Beginning

A month ago I sat down to write to you about my failure! How I failed to be prepared for my Birthday Marathon. How I set a goal and didn’t follow through. And then before I was finished writing I asked you to indulge me and allow me to yet again set a goal – to walk a 50k in the month that I turned 50! I called it my 50k at 50. It is with great joy that I announce: SUCCESS! Today I completed my 50k! A full day before my deadline! But more than accomplishing my goal, I feel better! The nagging hip pain is gone. My knee doesn’t hurt as much AND I am down 10lbs! Did I mention I feel GREAT? The rest of the story

God, Enoch and Me

…and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. One of the questions posed in the study guide (as an aside I detest study guides, unless they are only used if the discussion gets stuck or no one is participating) was “What stories in the Bible make you think of what it’s like to have a relationship with God?”  (Maybe that really wasn’t exactly the question, but as I learned from Dr. Dibble at Milligan College – If you don’t know the answer to the question asked, answer a similar question where you do know the The rest of the story

Killing Lincoln: A Book Review

One of the things I want to change in 2013 is my blog. Not change as in completely do something different but change as in expand my horizons. Yesterday, I added in a new category – Tips and tricks, which I hope you’ll see on many Thursdays. Today I am introducing another new category – Fun Friday. My vision for Fun Friday is to have a relaxed space where I can talk about fun things I’m doing or books I’m reading (or just finished in this case), maybe I’ll tell you about my favorite products or a fun project. The possibilities are endless!  So drag up a chair and lets get started. Have you ever noticed that when someone feels the need to continually tell The rest of the story

Water Water Everywhere, Why aren’t You Drinking It?

2013/01/10 Gayle 0

I am a wateroholic or at least I used to be! The story goes that when I was a baby I would awaken in the night to be fed. My doctor advised my mother to offer me water instead because I ‘wouldn’t keep waking for water’. For the next 12 years, I woke 5 out of 7 nights wanting water. Sorry Mom! When I was about three years old I was in a drug store with my mom. I wanted water! It was back in the day when drug stores still had lunch counters. My mom was embarrassed to ask for just water (fearing it would appear we were too poor to buy a soft drink) so, she ordered me a Coke-a-Cola. My mom ended The rest of the story
