I remember clearly the sound of a 21-gun salute. I remember the Crisp manner in which the flag was folded. I remember the stunned feeling as the flag was placed in my hands as Taps echoed in the distance. While my father’s death was not in combat, he served his Country honorably and was laid to rest with full military honors.
This Memorial Day, I hope you take the time to remember those who not only served their Country honorably, but also lost their life doing so. At Christmas, we oft hear that we need to remember the ‘reason for the season’ I urge you to remember the Reason for this three-day weekend.
