A mile marker on the U.S. National Road giving distances from many places

Milestones

We measure the progression of life by milestones. We count birthdays, anniversaries, and celebrate big on round numbers. We notice the odometer on our vehicles and ‘mark’ major round numbers (today my truck will pass 123,000). If you tweet, you probably notice your number of tweets or followers. And if you blog no doubt you notice the number of blog posts.

A mile marker on the U.S. National Road giving distances from many places

A couple of days ago I wrote a post about my grandmother and knowing about the past. I was thrilled when I realized I had written that post on International Women’s Day. On the day I paid tribute to a strong matriarchal figure in my life was the same day we celebrated Women around the world. Then as things sometimes do, there was a perfect alignment as I tweeted out my realization as my 10,000th tweet!

My next post here will be my 300th post. In a perfect world my 300th post and 10,000th tweet would have all happened simultaneously, but my life is imperfect and having them spread our gives me more reasons to celebrate.

In my very first post, (September 30, 2008) there is only a photo of a cabin where I spent a weekend with friends. No words, just one photo. What I have noticed is that since the consolidation of my personal blog, business blog, and inspirational blog my posts have become more personal. I’m not sure if that is good, bad or indifferent. What I do know it that as with most milestones, it’s time to look back and see if I’m are headed in the direction I want to go.

Damn, free association

I have been thinking about my 300th blog post for several days and have yet to decide what, when or well, anything. I do know I am looking forward to writing it and looking forward to sharing it.

See you soon, for 300!
