I thought of my epic quest as I planned, for trains, and cars, and hotels. I trained, I walked, I planned. Then I got sick. No worries, it’s three weeks until the race….it’s just the flu! Unfortunately my lungs and therefore asthma got involved. I didn’t recover as quick as I would have liked. Antibiotics, steroids, and an inhaler became my companions. One of the parts of our trip we were most excited about was riding the train. The adventure of going on the train and riding to our destination felt romantic and unusual. It did not disappoint! I loved the sound of the train whistle all night as we crossed each intersection. I completely enjoyed the rocking of the train. The seats are large (as compared to airplane seats), they recline, and they even have a cool foot rest… we didn’t discover until our ride was almost over. We ate breakfast in the dining car. It was a bit of a splurge… but the food was decent and the experience was awesome. Things I would do different – bring one of those neck pillow (or some The rest of the story
