Good times at the Cape Fear Tweetup

2012/01/31 Gayle 0

Last Thursday Friday (Thanks to @dawnbugni for sending me a tweet to remind me it was Friday not Thursday) was one of my favorite days…it was Tweetup day!! I know it may sound strange to those who haven’t yet succumbed to the twitter addiction, but the day I get to see my twitter friends IRL (in real life) is a happy happy day! These people are apart of my everyday life. We share joys and sorrows. This group of people saw me through several misdiagnoses and eventual surgery the end of last year, some even visited me in the hospital. We offer advice and are even available for private counseling –also known as direct messaging (and occasionally even a phone call). There was a lot The rest of the story

Which minute is THE minute

I have been reading 11/22/63: A Novel (Affiliate link) for the past couple of weeks.  I am not a Stephen King fan;  I actually think this my first Stephen King (I don’t do scary, books or movies). I read it simply because of its historical value. The premise of the book is that time travel is available and a man travels back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. One of the things the book delves into is the Butterfly Effect (where a small change at one place can result in large differences to a later state). Naturally, it is something I have been pondering as I read Mr. King’s captivating story. While I can’t quite buy into the theory that a The rest of the story

Loosen the Grip of Stress

2012/01/30 Gayle 0

Virtually every day when I sit before a blank screen and start to write, I think ‘Who am I to assume that I can write anything positive or inspirational to help someone else’. Most days I can remind myself that I am not writing to anyone but me. My positive blogging project didn’t start because I was looking to change someone else. It stared as a way to remind myself to be positive and as encouragement to me! Nevertheless, if someone reading can take a positive and helpful message from what I write, the more the better! This weekend I seem to have spent a lot of time talking about stress. Maybe it was something on my mind or maybe it is something that needs The rest of the story

32 feet in a beautiful day

2012/01/29 Gayle 3

Yesterday, I attended the Step Up for Soldiers Barbeque Cook-Off in Carolina Beach. It was an amazingly beautiful January day (the high temperatures were in the mid 60’s and the sky was a beautiful Carolina Blue – and if you know me you know that’s not a reference to any tar on heels). It was a great day of tasting wonderful BBQ, peddlin a little soap (and other Glynne’s Soaps goods) and listening to live music all day. Not long after our arrival, I noticed the wide variety of footwear. There was everything from bare feet to very furry winter boots. Naturally, I was toten’ a camera and thus began my journey to document the footwear. 32 feet, or photos, that’s where I ended. Some The rest of the story

Be your own weird self today!

2012/01/25 Gayle 0

Like most people I have spent a life time trying to fit in. I’ve been that round peg trying to fit the square holes. But as my sister so likes to point out, I march to my own drummer. For years I accepted the notion that being different, that being me was bad. However age, I’m amazingly nearing fifty, and life experience now tells me that I wasted far too much time and energy on trying be someone I am not. Dolly Parton said “Figure out who you are and then do it on purpose.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard better advice. Be your own weird self today! People may not love you for it, but you’ll love yourself!
