Are you Using Social Media to it’s Full Amplification?

A goal of mine in 2012, along with consolidating my blogging, was to write consistently about social media. Last year I did well keeping up with my inspirational blog, and the occasional posts to my Glynne’s Soaps blog; However, when it came to blogging about social media, I quite simply was not any good. What I have discovered in 2012 is that while I have plenty to say about social media, my tenor is snarky. I want to blast some guy who inappropriately (in my opinion) shared his chicken soup recipe. I want to prattle on and on (WOW do I have a WHOLE LOT to say about the guy who invites me to some event every day via Facebook and Linkedin (often after I The rest of the story

Shake it off

Every so often the words of others become so burdensome in our lives that we can hardly move forward. The words! We hear the words of our friends as they comment on our latest adventure. The words! We hear parental words telling us no one will every like ‘that attitude’. The words! We hear teachers from the 70’s still telling us we’ll never succeed at math. The words! Words we repeat over and over in our minds. The words! Eventually the words become so taxing we are unable to hear our own voice. We can no longer hear our own thoughts. We can no longer drown out the words! The words of others! Are you letting other people’s words take over your thoughts? Are you The rest of the story

Step Back into History

There are very few years when I miss going to the annual remembrance of the Second Battle of Fort Fisher, the largest land-sea battle of the War Between the States. I absolutely LOVE to watch and hear the big cannons boom! As stated, I love the cannons and in years past my camera has found nothing else at this event. This year, I took the time to notice the setting for the event. I hope you enjoy this setting as much as I did yesterday. Although I walked all over the grounds yesterday (a feat I paid for last night and today – it seems walking on uneven ground requires abdominal / core muscles. and even though I think I am healed from surgery my The rest of the story

Dont You Dare Give Up

Some days it seems as if everything in the world is going against you. A salmon swimming up stream has an easier time reaching her goal than you’re having reaching yours. I wish I had wonderful and expert advice to help you through those days. I wish there was a magic pill I could offer you that would make it all easier and better. I don’t. What I can tell you is…. As hockey legend Wayne Gretzky once noted, you will always miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. You must continue, even on the worst of days, if you want to succeed. So today, run in the rain, walk even thought it’s cold, read (or write) that book, practice that instrument – The rest of the story

Klout unto others as you would have them Klout unto you

2012/01/19 Gayle 1

I am relatively new to the Klout game. I will freely admit I was resistant. I couldn’t see how a Klout Score would make a difference in my world. It all seemed a little spammy to me – Tweeting to your friends to join; the mean message stating your high score than their low score. I didn’t want to do it and I didn’t for a VERY long time. Then I read an article about how Klout is the beginning of Web 3.0. The there was a discussion with a trusted colleague about the important your Klout score was when it came to employability, and while I have no plans to find an employer anytime soon, I am concerned with people hiring me. And just The rest of the story
