30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY TWENTY-ONE: My Mom
Today I got to spend the day with my mom. A few years ago it didn’t seem possible I would be saying that for any more Thanksgivings. So, today I am very thankful to be able to spend the day with my mom.

Today we traveled 250 miles to visit friends and family for Thanksgiving. Although we grumbled at the volume of traffic and the waiting for an accident to clear, comparatively, our journey was easy. For the most part we zipped along at 70(ish) mph while listening to music and having the temperatures regulated. We were able to conveniently stop for breaks, snacks and any other needs (even wants).
Today I am thankful for indoor plumbing and hot showers. It wasn’t that long ago that people had to trudge to the outhouse or heat water for a bath…today I am thankful I must do either of those things! Let’s hear it for CONVENIENCE!
Today I am thankful for St Paul’s UMC in Carolina Beach! After many years of searching for a Church that I could call my own, I believe I have found it at St Paul’s. I have appended many Churches in my almost 50 years and I have never encountered a a more friendly Church nor a more welcoming Church. While this is a small congregation, I can not imagine that will last….it’s hard to keep good things hidden and once people find St Paul’s the Church will have no choice but to grow. I am excited and looking forward to be a part of that growth.
Today I spent five hours in bitter cold chasing opportunity. Believe me, I grumbled! Complained! and wanted to abandon and head to a warmer place…but I persevered! Sales were slow (read virtually non-existent) but I was committed. Then it happened – two women approached. Said “We’re looking for you” and proceeded to make a rather large purchase. Now, I’ll not be retiring any day soon because of their purchase. But it reminded me that opportunity is available yet, We often lose the opportunity because we fail to act! When we do act we often lose the opportunity because we fail to persevere! Today I am thankful for opportunity! I pray for the wisdom to recognize it and to persevere!
