Crèche Journey 2023 Day 18

Today’s nativity is the first (I have several) of my peanuts nativities. I fell in love with Snoopy as a small child, I read the books of cartoons, read it in the paper, collected characters…all the things. I suppose this is proof that love can last a lifetime. #Day18 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 17

This nativity makes me smile every time I walk into this room! Each character is 2.5-3ft tall. As soon as we saw these, we knew we had to have them, even though we really couldn’t afford them. Which reminds me that sometimes, the path of Christ doesn’t make sense on paper or by world standards, but God makes a way. (Not encouragement to over spend). #Day17 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 16

Today’s nativity is new to us today! We found it at the Upscale Resale at St. Paul’s UMC Carolina Beach. For years we’ve wanted a new tree skirt, but never found one that we liked more than the cheap thing we had, until this one! And while this is a small example, it fits with Advent, sometimes just what we need takes time to be revealed. Waiting is a spiritual practice. Sometimes, we can grow weary of waiting and try to do things ourselves or accept less than we know is right, but waiting for God, co-creating with God, is worth the effort. #Day16 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 15

Today’s nativity is the first in my collection. Neither Jenn nor I can recall exactly when we purchased. We believe it was Christmas 2000, just after we purchased this house and went “all out” decorating for Christmas, our first month as homeowners. It isn’t the most unique or prettiest of the collection, but made special by the addition of Dalmatians who have always been by the side of this Christ child, as they’ve always been by the side of this Christ’s child. Today is a fitting day to celebrate the constant companionship of dog with us! #Day12 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Love You Marshall

2023/12/15 Gayle 0

Today Marshall opened all his Advent Calendar. He snuggled his brother and us. Went to McDonald’s for a happy meal, visited with friends, and took his final ride in the jeep. To say we’re devastated doesn’t begin to express our grief, but we could no longer manage his pain, and there was no fix for his failed legs. Continuing to suffer was not an option. My theology tells me that God created all, and that all praise God, therefore; I believe today Marshall has gone to life eternal and is no longer in pain and running on puppy legs again. For that I’m happy, but my heart is beyond broken.
