Crèche Journey 2023 Day 7

Today’s Nativity is a shirt Jenn just gifted me! It’s perhaps a little provocative or challenging, but no less true. The birth we celebrate is of a brown skinned Middle-Eastern immigrant whose family was forced to flee their country for his safety. #Day7 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Today’s nativity is the only of my collection that is displayed year around. This nativity created for me by my friend Meg, is a beautiful piece of art hand-built from clay. I love how the holy family are all huddled together here, holding one another, and comforting each other. Perhaps it’s what we all need in our families (of choice or birth) those who hold us, comfort us, and with whom we can huddle as needed. #Day6 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 5

Today’s nativity is your basic old-school flannelgraph. It’s probably 2ftx3ft. It was bound for the garbage when I rescued it and today it adorns my office wall. A sweet reminder that there is wondrous and beautiful new life available, even if we feel like garbage sometimes! #Day5 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 4

Today’s nativity isnt mine, nor is it a photo I took. But it is photos of the crèche at Bethlehem Luthern Church this year. I struggle to see how we celebrate the birth of a brown skinned Palestinian baby, and yet are callous about the plight of the children dying there today. Lord, in your mercy! Hear our prayer and spur us to action! #Day4 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd
