Crèche Journey Day 20

Today’s nativity was purchased online several years ago, it said made in Kenya. I love the fragileness of this nativity, and the sheep that’s a little wonky and takes effort to help it stand. And the dog (that’s what I deemed it) that seems to be lifting his leg. This nativity reminds us that life is fragile, and to hold each other gently. Perhaps we all need a little help standing from time to time (not just on our physical feet, but also as we’ve been beaten down by life and others). And like the little dog lifting his leg, not all needs can be put off…life is urgent, life is messy, life is happening now. #Day20 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Today’s nativity is, well, pretty standard. I suspect many people have one similar. It came from a shop in a mall somewhere, where we sorted through characters to find what we thought were the best. But in the average, there is still great beauty! Just like in us…although we may not think we’re the best or greatest… there is still great beauty in you! And, if no one has told you today, you’re amazing! #Day19 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Today’s nativity is the first (I have several) of my peanuts nativities. I fell in love with Snoopy as a small child, I read the books of cartoons, read it in the paper, collected characters…all the things. I suppose this is proof that love can last a lifetime. #Day18 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 17

This nativity makes me smile every time I walk into this room! Each character is 2.5-3ft tall. As soon as we saw these, we knew we had to have them, even though we really couldn’t afford them. Which reminds me that sometimes, the path of Christ doesn’t make sense on paper or by world standards, but God makes a way. (Not encouragement to over spend). #Day17 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd

Crèche Journey 2023 Day 16

Today’s nativity is new to us today! We found it at the Upscale Resale at St. Paul’s UMC Carolina Beach. For years we’ve wanted a new tree skirt, but never found one that we liked more than the cheap thing we had, until this one! And while this is a small example, it fits with Advent, sometimes just what we need takes time to be revealed. Waiting is a spiritual practice. Sometimes, we can grow weary of waiting and try to do things ourselves or accept less than we know is right, but waiting for God, co-creating with God, is worth the effort. #Day16 #nativitycollector #crèchenerd
