Driven to Distraction

2012/09/10 Gayle 0

This morning I awoke with a blog post idea floating around in my head. I often feel that these are my best blog posts…the ones I write in my sleep. I hopped out of bed, grabbed my coffee and sat down to write. Then it happened, DISTRACTION! It started with me thinking, what bills must be paid this week? We suffered a rainout on Saturday (or near rainout) and therefore diminished income. I stopped to figure this out. Okay, I have a plan! Time to write! Then my brain shifted to the things I need to do this week! Make a list, prioritize. Mark off a few things. Accomplish some of the urgent needs. Okay, now I can write. One Little Vote Could Change Everything

2012/06/28 Gayle 0

I am not very good at asking for help. I like to believe I can ‘make it on my own’. So, as you might imagine I really HATE begging!  However, we are nearing our deadline to qualify for this grant and I REALLY REALLY need your help (yep, you <pointing finger>). So, imagine me down on my knees begging! Here is a blog post I wrote and poster over at Glynne’s Soaps today. It makes voting easy with step by step pictures. Now I just need you to take action. If you’ve already voted, please ask a friend to vote also 🙂 Help us Qualify for a $250,000 Grant   Last week I received the most incredible call. Possibly you have uttered those words or similar words as you attempt to motivate either yourself or another, I know I have. Today as I was researching this quote for this post I found another translation from the original Chinese – “Even the longest journey must begin where you stand.” I share these words with you as a way of announcing my new Epic Quest! But first let me tell you how I arrived at the idea to follow this path. It all started rather simply. I went to eat wings with my friend The rest of the story

Guns, Dad, Remembering (and making new memories)

2012/06/17 Gayle 1

I remember when I learned to shoot a gun. My dad taught me with a Daisy BB gun. I am relatively sure I had just gotten her for Christmas or my birthday, I honestly can’t remember. I still have her and I actually have her sitting in my lap as I write today. The model 86/70 was first introduced to the market in 1970 and as I recall it was the latest and greatest when I got her. That BB gun spent many hours roaming the woods with me as a kid. It accompanied many ‘hunting trips’ and ‘Army’ games. It was a trusty companion. It fits into many of my childhood memories; like the time I tried to teach Christy Vernon to shoot and The rest of the story

My Dog ate a Sock and All I got was a Vet Bill

2012/05/16 Gayle 2

For years I have heard of people whose dog ate weird things. Some of them ate those things over and over. I judged those people. I thought – HOW could that happen? Can you not pick up? Should you even have a dog? BAD PARENTS (shaking finger) Bad Bad parents! And then, it happened to me! I have no doubt people are thinking – HOW could that happen? Can you not pick up? Should you even have a dog? BAD PARENTS (shaking finger) Bad Bad parents! I am there with you! The first time Marshall ‘ate something’ and it turned out to be a sock, we decided Diane at DogTrain might be right and he needed to be crated except when we were ‘eyes on The rest of the story
