30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY THIRTEEN: Good Books

2012/11/13 Gayle 0

There is nothing better than a good book! And today I am thankful for good books. There really is nothing better than a cozy seat, interesting characters  and a well written story which draws you into the world of a book. Beyond being thankful for the books I am thankful for the ability to read. Sadly not everyone in our great society has the ability to read. I am also thankful that I can choose to read most anything I wish….censorship is alive and well in many places of the world. And lastly, I am thankful for the public library where I can find many book free of charge. Thanks for reading 🙂

30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY TWELVE: Jennifer

Sometimes the hardest things to remember to be the most thankful for are the things closest to you. It becomes easy to take them for granted and not remember just how life would suck without them. Today I am thankful for Jennifer. I was very clearly reminded of that tonight when I was detained and late picking her up. I had no fear of her wrath or anger….I even said to those detaining me – ‘It will be fine, Jenn is so easy going, she won’t even be upset’ and she wasn’t! I could fill a book with stories about all the things Jenn does and who she is, but I won’t 🙂   I am very thankful to be able to walk through life with The rest of the story

30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY ELEVEN: My Dad and all Veterans

Today as I began to think about what I was thankful for I didn’t want to say veterans, not because I am not thankful for them, but because everyone was thanking a vet today. Then I began to think about my dad. He served his time with the West Virginia National Guard (with a stint of active duty during the Berlin Crisis). And I began to draw a lot of parallels between dads and vets (even for dads that aren’t vets). 1. Dads and Vets are always on the lookout for those who would cause us harm. 2. Dads and Vets are willing to make a personal sacrifice to keep us safe. 3. Dads and Vets act a sentries. At first it’s little thing for dads like checking The rest of the story

30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY TEN: The Beautiful Place I Live

2012/11/10 Gayle 0

There is hardly a time that I don’t think “WOW! this is just beautiful” when I cross the Snows Cut Bridge and although I  live (as they say around here) over the bridge, I do cross the bridge multiple time each week. Today I am thankful to live in an area with so much natural beauty!                 I feel very fortunate to be able to live everyday in a place people choose to vacation.

30 DAYS OF THANKFUL – DAY NINE: Family

2012/11/09 Gayle 0

Each of us has two families in our lives. The one in which we are born and the one we choose. Today, I am thankful for both those families. I am so appreciative of the family into which I was born. I have learned so many things from them (from silly songs to how to change the oil in a car) . I am also thankful for my family I have chosen (or the ones I have been chosen to be a part of). It is an amazing feeling to receive unconditional love from people who have no blood obligation to do so!
