It’s been too long

I have been in need of a day of camera therapy for a while and although I did not get a day with my camera, I did take some time on Wednesday and visited the Farmers Market in Raleigh. Being ever resourceful, I used my Android powered HTC Desire phone to snap a few shots. It was fun to see rows and rows of fresh vegetables and fruits all grown in North Carolina. The selection of flower were also beautiful!

Act 2 Scene 2

My journey began as an attempt to show wrought iron against a beautiful dusk sky. Soon my journey was over taken by the sight of balconies at night. I was reminded of the most famous of balconies;  the one that is the set for Act 2  Scene 2. “Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief” In the end it was the colors that drew me to the photos I chose to include.

Trip Home

Forty-two years later, I still love that weather vane! When I was a kid my parents raised 2.5 The rest of the story

Marina Life

I’m a frequent visitor to the marina in Carolina Beach. In the spring and fall I am there every Saturday. This past Saturday, however, I spent some time with a different view of the marina and marina life. I met a group of men who had been scuba diving. They told of bull nose sharks and a variety of underwater adventures. Although they wanted to know why I would take photos of their tanks and not of the ‘handsome group of men’ 🙂 I am fairly certain the fishermen who use these do not call them bobbers, but I also feel confident they serve a similar purpose. I, of course, am VERY attracted to the orange color!         A neighbor once told me that The rest of the story

Dads, Trains and a World Record

On Saturday, April 23, 2011 I snuck away from my soap selling duties to attend the attempt by the model railroaders from the Wilmington Rail Road Museum to break the record for the world’s longest model train at Wilmington’s new Convention Center. A train consisting of 31 locomotives and 1563 cars was placed on 1000 feet of track in the Convention Center’s main exhibit hall.  At about 925.55 feet long, this train traveled continuously for 750 feet to surpass the record set by Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany in 2008.  The World Record Run was witnessed and documented in order to be included among other achievements listed by Guinness World Records. A special feature of this event allowed individuals and businesses to sponsor a limited edition locomotive, custom The rest of the story
