Addition by subtraction

For months we have been having trouble with our internet! Sometimes we would drop service as much as 8 times an hour. We had encountered this problem when we first signed up for AT&T service (last May). Last year we had several techs visit to try to fix the problem….none were completely successful. In late summer we were so busy that we didn’t have time to deal with trying to get it fixed (and besides it was only dropping a few times a day). This story could get REALLY long…but the short version is that we were approaching our contractual year of AT&T service and we were ready to move on! Twitter is a business tool you can’t afford to leave in the tool box

I oft find that people who have never use twitter think it is just a place to post what you had for breakfast or other random uninteresting information. What they don’t realize is that while there is a certain amount of random information available, there is also good and informative information available. I for one, rarely watch television news. I don’t need to; it is all available via twitter. If I am looking for a hair cut, I ask on twitter. I have discovered some of my favorite restaurants via twitter. Only One in Three Companies Address Social Media Concerns

Fifty-one percent of executives surveyed said they fear social media could be detrimental to employee productivity, while 49 percent believe that using such could damage company reputation. In fact, those surveyed who are notusing social media on a corporate basis say non-implementation is primarily due to concern about confidentiality or security issues (40%), employee productivity (37%) or simply not knowing enough about it (51%).

I am a twittering fool. I absolutely love the medium. Frequently, when I am blabbering on about twitter, I encounter the blank stares of those who have not yet caught the twitter bug. I must admit my first encounter with twitter ended with a ‘what’s the big deal” response and a six month hiatus. I have previously described the moment my love affair with twitter was solidified forever. What I have yet to share is why my experiences with other businesses on twitter.
