As I was sayin- OH LOOK! a Squirrel

Sometimes the hardest thing about writing a daily blog is figuring out the topic. Once there is a topic, then it is really just a matter of getting my facts, photos, etc, etc. The writing usually comes easy for me – I have the gift of gab 🙂 However today, as I started to write I received a phone call; which I handled and then set back to my writing. Then I saw an email come in, something very important that was / is past due; I jumped to handle it. Next a text message came in about an event I am attending tonight. Soon half my day was gone and I still only had my topic and research toward my blog post. As much The rest of the story

How to Pick’em (friends, of course)

Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher. – Oprah Winfrey When I sat down to begin writing, my intent was to write about dealing with the disappointments that come with human entanglements. However as I began to tap out letters hoping that words would form, I quickly discovered that I needed inspiration; and inspiration I found, in the form of an Oprah Winfrey quote. Which then lead me to recall a Chinese Proverb, or something, that goes something similar to this….If you want to know a man’s character, look no further than his friends. Who are you surrounded by? Are they building you up? Do they tear you down? I discovered a blog post by Jason Seiden entitled ‘How to The rest of the story

Call a Time Out

I’m still enjoying a few days off. Maybe, you should too 🙂 Today, I am sharing with you three reasons you should stake a vacation. Bon Voyage! 1. You’ll live longer. The Framingham Heart Study, a decades-long research project into the causes and risk factors for heart disease, found a strong link between vacations and longevity.  Go away on vacation at least once a year and your risk of death falls by 20% compared with those who keep working. 2. You’ll strengthen your family. A number of psychological studies have shown that buying experiences — such as a vacation — increases happiness more than buying possessions.  Go back to your own childhood for a minute: Can you list all the presents you got for each The rest of the story

You Can’t Choose Others Thoughts but Can Own Yours

Today I am taking a few days off to celebrate my 14th Anniversary. I still want to leave you inspired. So head on over to Chris Brogan’s Blog and read about untangling you life from those around you. As Chris says ‘We can’t choose how our relatives feel about us. We can’t choose how our loved ones think about us and react to us. We can’t alter how those people at work speak about us when we’re not there. None of that is ours. YOU OWN YOUR HEAD What you can do, however, is work on yourself, is accept yourself as you are right now, is start to fuel your own personal inner fire of belief without any external sources. It’s not that you don’t The rest of the story

Do you hear what I hear?

2011/09/14 Gayle 0

There is a good chance that you have ears. It is more than likely you can hear. But are you listening? I often like to relate a lesson I learned early in life. My father an avid reader would oft sit and read while my mother, a non-reader puttered around the house. My mother talked continually as she went about her tasks. We were on some family outing and my mother related an event happening and my father said, ‘you didn’t tell me that’ and my mother responded with ‘yes I did, I was in the kitchen and you were on the couch when I told you’. To which my father replied ‘Oh, well, just because you are talking doesn’t mean I am listening’. This The rest of the story
