Stop Sabotaging Your Mood

2011/09/13 Gayle 0

Want to solve a problem? You can improve your problem solving skills by inducing a positive mood. If you can get yourself to a positive mood, you can improve your cognitive flexibility. Sound crazy?  A 2010 study in Psychological Science shows that inducing a positive mood can improve one’s cognitive flexibility. The question then is how do you get into a good mood and how do you stay there? Probably if you really thought about it, you could find the ‘trigger’ got most bad moods. Perhaps your spouse spoke sharply to you or you were unable to fit into your favorite outfit due to the five pounds you recently gained.  Consider in these examples the role that your thoughts play in all this. It wasn’t the event that was the root of The rest of the story

Do you have Brave thoughts?

In July of 2011 I wrote a post about tuning in and listening to the words you use when you talk to yourself.  The title was You are Exactly what you Think and I am in need of a refresher. Want to know who you are? Tune in to the conversation inside your head. Your thoughts accurately reflect who you think you are. I read a statement last week that said something to the effect that the worst thing someone could say to us in an argument is something we already fear (or know) to be true.  The voices in our head know the truth.  The voices know if we are procrastinating. Or is there? You see the descriptions we give the word “goal” implies your objective will be difficult to achieve. There is a subtle undertone crafted by the implicit meaning of your words telling you it’s just The rest of the story

It is all a matter of what you do and how you do it. Here are a few tips that will assist with experiencing an increase in your joy & happiness: 1. For most of us we have a voice that plays in our heads. It may be your own voice; the voice of a teacher or past coach or maybe the voice is your mother or father.  But it is the voice of a negative motivator. Someone who believed in motivating by telling you just how you had not measured up to their expectations. Good enough did not exist for them and they believe that the way to make you better is to tell you how bad you are.  This form of motivation works for some people. For others it is a reason to quit. Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is shut off the negative voices in our head! Sometime we need to The rest of the story
