Be Fearless

FEAR!  We all have it. We all are forced to face our fears from time to time. Whether it the spider who confronts you in your bedroom when no one else is around or the idea that something is wrong in your body and you fear life changing news. We all from time to time must face our fears. How do you approach your fears? I am embarrassed to report that recently I lived with, at times, excruciating pain for over two weeks because I was afraid of the diagnosis. My mind could imagine all sorts of truly life altering problems. Fortunately, once I faced my fear, the problem was relatively minor and easily fixed with medication. For many of us, this is how we The rest of the story

Just Do It

I am a part of the ‘Just Do It’ generation. In 1988, when Nike came out with the famous slogan, I was a young adult struggling to transition from the world of academia to the ‘real world’.  Just do it seemed a fitting mantra for those times. Except do we ever just do something? What exactly do we mean when we say ‘Just Do It”? We must remember that thoughts precede actions, which precede change. I know of not one person who ever set out to reach a goal and just did it. First they thought of the goal. Then they planned how to reach the goal. Lastly they put themselves where the rubber meets the road and they just did it. Are you trying The rest of the story

What’s it Take to Succeed?

2011/09/29 Gayle 1

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.  ~Abraham Lincoln Everyone wants to be successful; in life, in love, in business. Yet, we spend a ridiculous amount of time feeling like failures! We make up cute ditties like ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try try again’! We want success to come to us in a straight line. I did A, B C, and D and that should equal SUCCESS! Instead we find that A, B C, and D equals a try again or a give up. Success doesn’t come in a straight line! Success looks like this graphic (which one of our Facebook friends shared and I can no longer find the original posting). Success is The rest of the story

Even a Superhero needs Help

“If I could be a superhero I would be… Awesome Man I’d fly around the world fighting crime According to my awesome plan And if I saw criminals trying to lie Hurting other people and making them cry I’d haul them off to jail in my awesome van ‘Cause I would be Awesome Man” — Stephen Lynch, “Superhero” I read a blog post a few days ago entitled ‘you are your own superhero’. In the post Chris Brogan talks about how you do not have to wait for someone else to save you. You can and should save yourself. I have been thinking about that post since I first read it. It really spoke to me and the fact that I am in control of my The rest of the story

You are Never a Failure until You Stop Trying

2011/08/09 Gayle 1

It is hard for me to accept when something doesn’t work. I have an idea and I try to go from idea to reality and it doesn’t work! Soon I am feeling like a failure. It is easy to take a lack of success and label it as failure; when the reality isn’t failure but lack of success. Perhaps you have heard how Thomas Edison unsuccessfully tried over 6ooo times to create a light bulb. On one occasion a young journalist challenged Edison saying to him, “Mr. Edison, why do you keep trying to make light by using electricity when you have failed so many times? Don’t you know that gas lights are with us to stay?” To this Edison replied, “Young man, don’t you realize that I have not failed but have successfully discovered six thousand The rest of the story
