How often do you think, ‘I’ll do that when…..’ We have ever intention of practicing a musical instrument, or reading a book, or going for a run or even walking the dog but we end up waiting for some magical burst of motivation to make it happen. Perhaps, we are just so confident that there will be more time in our lives soon. Maybe we just live in perpetual procrastination. How do we snap out of it? How do we do the things we want to do? I was pondering these questions yesterday when I received my breaking news text informing the world that Steve Jobs had died. I don’t think this news was particularly surprising to most people but it was somewhat disconcerting. You The rest of the story

Back to Basics

My friend Ted owns a successful retail business and a booming online shop. Ted volunteers in his community and has the usually family issues added in. Ted is a man with a lot of balls in the air. Yesterday morning Ted called me. I’m sure neither of us remembers the real reason for his call, but we spent over an hour talking about why we do what we do. Ted had hit a wall in his life. He is working more and enjoying less. His statement to me was ‘why am I working so hard to be successful when it just means I work more?’ Ted’s passion for surfing is what made his business successful and yet, Ted no longer has time to surf. Soon half my day was gone and I still only had my topic and research toward my blog post. As much The rest of the story

What are you missing in life because of a smartphone? Here are 19 Tips on keeping your phone in check (I borrowed them from Time Management Ninja) 14 of TMN’s 19 Phone Rules Call Me if Something is Important – When something is important, by all means call me. Turn Your TO-DO List into Your TA-DA List

Several years ago, I became a great fan of Napoleon Hill. I am such a fan that I begin my day with an email inspiration from the Napoleon Hill Society. I have adopted many ideas and principals from the writings of Napoleon Hill but none that have served me as well as how I approach my to-do list. Napoleon Hill writes of Ivy Lee; Lee was doing some work for Charles Schwab the head of Bethlehem Steel. Schwab told Lee that the biggest problem he had was making his managers more effective – helping them to better utilize their time. Lee handed Schwab a blank sheet of paper and told him that with in a few minutes he could give him the solution. Schwab agreed The rest of the story
