To Link or Not To Link

I like to talk with people. I love the exchange of ideas. I’m also keen on sharing knowledge. Last night I had the opportunity to speak to a group of local business owners about social media. The joy of talking with other small business owners is palpable for me. At one point in our discussion last night one of the participants said ‘and don’t link your Facebook to your twitter or you’ll piss Gayle off’. I can’t deny that this is true; you will irritate me beyond belief. Nonetheless, I do not believe I am the ONLY one! People link accounts because it is convenient. Title IX turns 40 this year. It should come as no surprise that I remember June 23, 1972, the day it became law. I stood earnestly before the console TV and watched the news story. Girls playing sports! Naturally, my precocious nine year old self was anxious to be a benefactor of this new legislation. Sadly, I was in college before I played any organized sports. My parental unit was of the ‘don’t rock the boat’ generation and change doesn’t come quickly in small town America. However, I was desperate to play little league baseball. There is No Shame in Starting Over

If you know me, you probably know I have had a rough few months! I haven’t felt well in quite some time and in mid-October, I knew I was to the point that I needed relief! I eventually gave in and went to the Emergency Room (no small decision for this uninsured American). Thus began my plethora of misdiagnoses. I won’t bore you with details but know that from October 14th until November 23rd I went through four incorrect diagnoses (acid reflux, UTI, diverticulitis, and abdominal abcess). On November 23rd the true culprit was found, a grapefruit size fibroid tumor. On December 8th I had a total hysterectomy. Because of the size of the tumor, I needed a midline incision (a little harder to heal). Tomorrow will be The rest of the story

Last Thursday Friday (Thanks to @dawnbugni for sending me a tweet to remind me it was Friday not Thursday) was one of my favorite days…it was Tweetup day!! I know it may sound strange to those who haven’t yet succumbed to the twitter addiction, but the day I get to see my twitter friends IRL (in real life) is a happy happy day! These people are apart of my everyday life. We share joys and sorrows. This group of people saw me through several misdiagnoses and eventual surgery the end of last year, some even visited me in the hospital. I have been reading 11/22/63: A Novel (Affiliate link) for the past couple of weeks. I am not a Stephen King fan; I actually think this my first Stephen King (I don’t do scary, books or movies). I read it simply because of its historical value. The premise of the book is that time travel is available and a man travels back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. One of the things the book delves into is the Butterfly Effect (where a small change at one place can result in large differences to a later state).
