A Call to Action – Puppy Mill Bill

UPDATE – The situation with the puppy mill bill is disappointing.  The bill will not be heard due to a few special interest groups.  As a community we must come together to ensure that this will not continue to happen.  You have all been asking what you can do now. Making these calls is the most important thing that you can do for all the animals in NC. Please take the time today to call:

1. Speaker Hackney – Tell him you are disappointed that the bill to regulate commercial dog breeders will not be heard due to special interest groups.  Ask what we can do to prevent this since these groups really have nothing to do with dogs. The groups holding the bill back are the Farm Bureau, Pork and NRA (National Rifle Assoc.).  Speaker Hackney – (919) 733-3451 Joe.Hackney@ncleg.net

2. Chairman Wainwright – Tell him the bill had nothing to do with guns, pork, farms or reputable breeders.  You are disappointed that he gave in to these special interest groups. Chairman Wainwright – (919) 733-5995 William.Wainwright@ncleg.net

3. Commissioner Troxler – Tell him you are disappointed in the outcome of the bill to regulate commercial dog breeders and concerned that he did not SUPPORT a bill to protect our consumers and animals. Steve Troxler – (919) 733-7125 ext. 225 Steve.Troxler@ncagr.gov

* FYI – Calls are far more effective than emails. *

Please cross post to other people you know in NC so they can help too! Please be respectful when you make these calls.  We must be polite, but at the same time our elected officials need to understand that we are a very large voting community unhappy with the outcome.  Thousands of dogs will suffer indefinitely and we need to remember that fact at the voting booth this fall.  Let’s be sure we don’t end this quietly. Next year they may think twice.
